Coaching is complementary to counseling and its techniques can be applied to a problem identified in a counseling setting.  However, if we imagine a number line with 0 (zero) being at “Normal” for mental health, counseling can bring an individual from a negative number back to zero while coaching can bring an individual from zero to a positive number.  Coaching helps you thrive or flourish, reaching toward your optimal growth and development.

 

Coaching can help you reach your goals and allow you to truly flourish and create more happiness in your life.  Identifying and building upon your character strengths, we build your understanding and application of approaches for continuous self-improvement.

My Coaching certification is in Positive Psychology from the Whole Being Institute.  Positive Psychology is sometimes called the science of happiness, but by now it is much more than that.  It is an entire sub-discipline of research that offers insight and clarity around the broad area of human flourishing and development.  What we know for certain is that Positive Psychology can lead to transformation. What science is now showing us is that positive emotions lead to more creative, productive relationships that offer greater happiness.

My coaching services can range from short-term problem solving (1-2 sessions) to longer-term lifestyle building (a 90 day practice is highly recommended and evidence-based). 

Coaching includes three components

  1. A coaching relationship

  2. Self-Inquiry

  3. Choices and Actions

These three things can bring us to positive change defined as clarity and progress toward personally meaningful goals.
